Teen Drug and Alcohol Treatment

Addiction to alcohol or other drugs is a devastating experience for a young person and his or her family.  More than just physical changes, adolescents often do poorly in school or may drop out, they risk unplanned pregnancies, and involvement in the criminal justice system.

Studies show that the earlier a person uses drugs or alcohol the greater the risk of becoming addicted.

Here are some warning signs that your teen or someone you know may have a problem with drugs or alcohol:

Mood and Behavior Changes
•  Unusual hostility                •  Resistance to discipline
•  Withdrawal from family •  Changes in friends
•  Drop in grades   •  Slurred speech
•  Pattern of dishonesty, stealing legal trouble
•  Sudden increase in absences and tardiness
•  Poor concentration and short-term memory

Physical Changes
•  An unhealthy appearance •  Bloodshot eyes
•  Dilated or shrunken pupils
•  Constant runny nose or cough

•  Major change in eating or sleeping patterns

Our staff at Pyramid’s adolescent drug and alcohol programs are educated in drug and alcohol addiction and adolescent developmental stages. We can offer your teen a safe supportive environment when they can examine their past behaviors, learn positive coping skills and good decision making.
Family therapy is critical; our staff work with family members to address the issues and gain understanding of the changes that need to happen in the home to be successful.
