Methadone Maintenance

Shelley Askew-Floyd, Director of Narcotic Treatment Programs

Methadone Maintenance Treatment (MMT) can help individuals overcome their addiction to heroin and other opioids, including OxyContin, by suppressing withdrawal symptoms for 24 – 36 hours.  Without the cravings and euphoric rush typically associated with opioid drugs individuals can begin to focus on their recovery.

Studies show that the most effective methadone programs include individual and group counseling.  At Pyramid Healthcare our clients learn about the disease of addition and recovery in regular group and individual therapy sessions.

In our MMT programs
  • Methadone is administered 7 days a week, 365 days a year
  • Daily dosing is supervised by medical personnel
  • Includes random urine screens
  • Group, family, individual counseling
  • Relapse prevention and support groups

Is methadone right for you?

Here are some questions that can help determine if MMT is the proper choice for you.
  • Have you been addicted to heroin or other opioids continuously for more than a year?
  • Are you pregnant?
  • What other treatment options have you tried?
There are many factors that determine whether methadone is an appropriate treatment method.   Call one of our programs and we can answer your questions and help you make the choice that is right for you.
